Hi everybody,

 

As instructed by Chris Kenopic, our Executive Director, the DLI staff is complying with health safety as advised by the federal and provincial governments.  DLI staff are working from their home offices; we have agreed not to meet in person during this time. 

 

DLI is still open for service and communicating by e-mail, SKYPE, FaceTime, and Video Relay Interpreting Services for meetings and other business. The Deaf and DeafBlind LINC and LBS literacy programs are closed till Monday, April 6th, 2020 or until the Government announces it is safe.

 

We are keeping informed of messages and information from the government’s website which is then shared with the Deaf and DeafBlind stream funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD). 

 

DLI supports the Canadian Association of the Deaf and the Ontario Association of the Deaf in their work to ensure the Government’s announcements made publicly are accessible in ASL/LSQ for the Deaf community. 

 

There are many links to learning about the Coronavirus/Covid-19 and Government messages but one link that DLI would like to share is from Silent Voice Canada. Information is updated regularly and accessible in ASL: https://silentvoice.ca/news/ 

 

Important: The Coronavirus is a serious outbreak! Please learn how the Ministry of Health is helping to keep Ontarians safe. We as Ontario residents are responsible to comply and work together to end this pandemic.
